Admission
The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Program is designed for beneficiaries (residents) in need of a long-term, intensive rehabilitation process. It is not a temporary shelter for a few days or weeks. It requires a strong commitment by the beneficiary to the full term (possibly six months or more) in order to be effective.
Admission to the A.R.C. is voluntary. Referral sources include social services, clergy, physicians, families, courts and employers. We accept all referrals with strict confidentiality to protect the rights of the beneficiaries.
The prospective beneficiary must:
- Be a male
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a valid ID
- Be willing to acknowledge the need for rehabilitation to overcome his problems
- Be in good physical health and willing to participate in the entire program, including work therapy
- Commit to a long-term period of rehabilitation (possibly six months or more)
- Be free of intoxicating drugs ( including alcohol) upon admission and must express a desire to build a lifestyle free of chemical dependency
- Be willing to submit to random drug tests
- Be accepted by staff
There is no fee for entering the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Program. Because of the program’s intense nature and full schedule, beneficiaries are not permitted to hold outside employment while they are in the program. If beneficiaries do have other financial resources, it’s requested that they pay a nominal fee to help defray the cost of room and board during their stay. However, no one is turned away because of lack of income.
The primary source of funding for the program is the household items and used vehicles donated by the community. The goods are resold through the seven Salvation Army stores in the greater metropolitan area.
When people GIVE us their used items, and when people SHOP in our stores, we can help HEAL broken lives. There are no federal, state, local or United Way funds used in the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Program.
You can learn more about the program by viewing the clips from our DVD here. If you would like to receive a copy of the DVD, contact us at 612-332-5855.
